Ballymote Garda Station

  • Gardaí in Sligo town arrested a man brandishing an axe last night.

     

    Gardaí attended within minutes after receiving the call and arrested the male.

     

    He was conveyed to Ballymote Garda Station and later charged with having possession of an offensive weapon.

     

    He was given bail to appear at the District Court in the near future.

  • Gardaí in Sligo are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a 20-year-old man this afternoon in Sligo town.

    Gardaí were called to the scene of an incident at a house at Connolly Street, Sligo at approximately 1.30pm this afternoon. A 19-year-old man, who investigating Gardaí believe was the victim of an assault, was pronounced dead at the scene. The office of the state pathologist has been notified and a Garda technical team are currently at the scene.

    A 31-year-old man was arrested a short time later in connection with this investigation and is currently detained at Ballymote Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

    Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or anyone with information to contact Sligo Garda Station on 071-9157000, the Garda Confidential line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

    Investigations are continuing.

     

  • The Gurteen to Ballymote road has reopened to traffic this afternoon following a single vehicle road collision.

    The incident occurred shortly after 12 noon when the driver of a car lost control and drove into a farmyard.

    A man was cleaning his quad bike in the yard when it was struck by the vehicle.

    He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sligo University Hospital as a precaution.

    There were five occupants in the car and they suffered no injuries.

    Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident and ask anyone with information to contact Ballymote Garda Station on 071 918 9500.

  • The man who was detained in connection with the disappearance of Natalia Karaczyn from her Sligo home  was released without charge  from Ballymote garda station early this morning.

    Gardai say investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the disappearance of 30 year old Natalia, who is missing from her home in Crozon Park, Sligo since early Sunday last morning, 29th April.

    Natalia is described as being 5'8" in height, slim build with green eyes and medium length straight blond hair. When last seen she was wearing a black lace body suit, black leather trousers, black jacket and black sandals with open toe.

    Gardaí in Sligo are concerned for Natalia's safety and anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact Sligo Garda Station on 071 - 9157000, the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station. 

    Natalia's home has been sealed off and a forensic examination is being carried out.

    Gardai are also appealing for information in relation to the movements of a beige Peugeot estate car 308, partial registration number 09 DL on Sunday morning last, the 29th April,in the Sligo area.
