  • A seasoned Irish international and not even out of his teens, Ballaghaderreen's Adam McAllister is one of the hottest rising talents in Irish badminton at the moment. After winning a record three National titles in one day recently, Angelina McHugh caught up with Adam to chat about how he got started in the game, the issue of funding and training facilities for those in the West of Ireland, plus his hopes for the future once he gets the Leaving Cert done and dusted this June!

  • A Ballaghaderreen man has won the Ulster Premier Open in Badminton.

    19 year old Adam McAllister won the singles title at the badminton Ulster Premier Open this weekend in Lisburn. 

    In the final he beat Ulster’s Tony Stephenson in two straight sets 21/19, 21/11.

  • Ballaghadereen teenager Adam McAllister has been selected to play on the Irish U19 Badminton team, who will compete at the European Championships in Estonia in September.

    The championships will run from the 6-16th September.

  • Adam McAllister and the Irish U19 Badminton team who are competing at the European Championships in Estonia. The Irish got off to a great start yesterday beating Slovenia 4/1 with Adam winning both his matches in singles & mixed doubles. Later in the day they took on Turkey, the seeded team in their group, but lost 4/1 with Adam winning the only match men’s doubles with Brian O’Mahony in a very tight 3 setter with a score of 23/21 in the 3rd. 

    Today they take on Austria & Cyprus.

  • Ireland finished the European Junior team championship on a massive high beating Cyprus 4-1. Earlier in the day the Irish lost out to Austria .    

    Ballaghaderreen's Adam McAllister did his country proud winning 5 out of the 8 matches he played in the Team Event to get the victories over Slovenia & Cyprus . They are now preparing for the Individual Event which kicks off this Tuesday.

  • Ballaghaderreen's Adam McAllister lost final in men’s doubles at the Leinster Senior Open alongside Cork's Brian O'Mahony in a thrilling 3 setter. They won the first set 22/20 & lost the second 21/17 and the final set 21/13. 

  • Ballaghaderreen’s Adam McAllister won the Irish U19 National Badminton Championship yesterday in Lisburn.

  • Ballaghadereen’s Adam McAllister is through to the semi-finals at the Leinster Senior Open taking place at the Badminton Centre in Terenure this weekend. The semi-finals & finals are underway today.

  • There was disappointment this morning in Estonia at the U19 Junior Championships for Ballaghaderreen's Adam McAllister and his partner Rachael Woods  The Irish lost out to a pair from Poland in a thrilling match with a scoreline of 22/20 21/17. 

  • At the Badminton U19 European Championships Individual event in Estonia Ballaghaderreen’s Adam McAllister & his partner Rachael Woods had a huge win & caused a major upset in their first round of mixed doubles beating the number 4 seeds from Netherlands in a tight 3 set game.

    The Irish pair lost the first game 21/13 & went on to win 21/19 in 2nd & 21/18 in the final set.

  • Bonniconlon’s David Walsh lost out to Jonathan Dolan of Sligo in a very close battle at the Irish Men’s Senior National Championships today.

    It finished 23-21, 21-18 to Jonathan.

    Meanwhile Ballaghaderreen’s Adam McAllister also lost out narrowly to Josh McGee in the other last four battle – again in two sets.

    David and Jonathan teamed up for the doubles and booked their place in the final earlier after overcoming the number 1 seeds in their semi-final – Josh McGee and Paul Reynolds.

    Adam McAllister was paired with David McGee for the doubles and also made the semi-finals but the pair lost out in that game.

  • Ballaghaderreen's Adam McAllister has reached the final of the men’s singles at the badminton Irish National Championships.

    The event is being played today at the National Indoor Arena in Dublin.

    Adam had a thrilling 3 setter semi-final, beating 3/4 seed Jack O’Brien 14/21 , 22/20, 21/17.
