Roscommon Senator proposes new legislation on how close wind turbines can be built to people's homes

Roscommon Labour Senator John Kelly will bring a new bill before the Seanad today, governing how close wind turbines can be built to people's homes.

 

The bill is based on medical research claiming that turbines placed near residential areas can cause heart disease, migraine, vertigo and other symptoms.

 

Senator John Kelly says he supports the development of wind turbines as a sustainable energy source.

 

But he wants to minimise health risks by imposing restrictions on their location:
