Mayo overcame Galway in the Under-21 Connacht GAA football championship in McHale Park, Castlebar last night.
The final score after extra time was Mayo 1-14, Galway 0-15
9 points from Cillian O’Connor was the difference between the sides, with his two points from frees deep into extra time ensuring the Mayo win
Extra time was required after the sides were level 1-10 to 0-13 points at the end of normal time.
The sides were level 6 times during a helter-skelter match, with Mayo’s determination and persistance paying off against a Galway side who paid the price for kicking too many wides
The Mayo side will next face Roscommon next Wednesday night in the semi-final
