80 jobs are to go at Homecare Medical Supplies.
The family-run company supplies healthcare equipment, disposables, daily living and mobility aids to the HSE, hospitals, nursing homes, community care, pharmacy and retail sectors.
Its head office is in Ballyhaunis, with a service centre in Kiltimagh and retail stores in a number of towns including Ballyhaunis, Castlebar, Cavan, Cork, Galway amd Dundalk.
Homecare Medical announced to staff last Friday that from 31st January next, their HSE contracts for the Recycling of Aids & Appliances will be terminated.
This will result in a lack of work, which will necessitate the redundancy of 80 positions in the company’s service area, and work has already begun in consulting with staff members in relation to redundancy.
In a statement to Midwest News this afternoon, Homecare Medical confirmed that 50 jobs will go at the Kiltimagh service centre, 15 in Ballyhaunis and a further 15 in Clonee.
The company stressed that, while these contracts affect a large portion of the workforce, this is only part of Homecare’s business, and the remaining 70 jobs will remain unaffected.
Homecare management says it regrets these redundancies, and has thanked the staff for their dedication in executing these contracts.
