Galway footballer Declan Meehan has announced his retirement from inter-county football after 15 years with the Tribesmen.
Meehan, who will celebrate his 35th birthday next week has months of rehab ahead of him following a long-standing shoulder injury. He told management of his decision on Tuesday night.
Declan won senior All-Ireland titles in 1998 and 2001 and won a Club All-Ireland title with Caltra in 2003 and also collected All-Star awards in 2000 and 2001. He was also named Player of the Year in 2001.
