Mayo winners at ALDI National Community Games presentation night
The ALDI National Community Games annual presentation night for volunteers, areas and media was held in Johnstown Estate Hotel Enfield Co. Meath last weekend.
Mayo Community Games were well represented at the awards and picked up several national awards on the night.
The Mayo adult volunteer award went to Margaret Kilduff from Knock for her outstanding work for Mayo Community Games over many decades.
Margaret has been involved at local level in Knock and has given sterling service to the organisation at county and national level and continues to help out at the county athletic finals in Claremorris every year.
Breaffy Community Games received an award for the best large area in Mayo Community Games. Catherine Burke who is a life long member of community games accepted the award on behalf on her area at the function. Breaffy has continued to show the way forward in the culture and sporting side of the organisation for years.
Kilmurray Community Games have a long involvement with community games and they were honoured as the best small area in Mayo Community Games for 2017. Helen Keane and Patrica Loftus accepted the award on behalf of their area. Both Helen and Patrica are trojan workers in their area for many years.
The current P.R.O, of Mayo Community Games Michael Brophy was the recipient of a national award for the best written article submitted by a PRO and published by the press following his report from the ALDI national finals in Abbotstown this year.
