Mayo, Sligo and Roscommon International Rules players hit by stomach bug
Three of the Irish International Rules players, who are due to face Australia in the first test in Adelaide, are battling to recover from a stomach bug, according to the Irish Independent.
Pearce Hanley, of Gold Coast and a native of Mayo, Sligo’s Niall Murphy and Enda Smith from Roscommon were struck down yesterday and there’s now a major doubt over whether they will be able to play in the game which starts at 5.10am Irish time on Sunday morning.
The three players were moved to single rooms at the team hotel to minimise the risk to their colleagues.
Manager Joe Kernan says the three who caught the bug are being well looked after by the medical team, and he’s hoping that, by Sunday, they will be able to play at some stage of the game.
