The National Athletics Awards ceremony was held in Dublin last Wednesday where Michaela Walsh student of Scoil Muire Agus Padraig Swinford received the award for Ireland's Overall Schools Athlete of the year  for her outstanding achievements at the Irish Schools Track and Field Championships where she won double gold in the shot putt and hammer, set new National School Records in both events , she also won overall athlete of the Championships and led her school to Win the Overall Senior Girls School of the championship. 

Thomas Barr received the Overall Athlete of the Year at the awards for his 4th place finish at the Olympic while Rob Heffernan received the endurance athlete of the year for his 6th place finish also at the Olympics.
