Mayo claim 3-1 victory away to Newbridge Cheetahs in volleyball

Mayo claimed a 3-1 victory away to Newbridge Cheetahs on Saturday afternoon thus cementing their position at the summit of Division 2. The win takes their tally to an impressive 5 games out of 5 in this their maiden season.

The match begun with Mayo hitting the ground running from the off as they comfortably disposed of their opponents in the opening set 25-13.

However Newbridge did rise to the challenge in the following set but Mayo managed to weather the storm claiming a narrow 26-24 win in a closely fought second set.

The Kildare club were not going to down without a fight however as they dug deep  with an array of good hits claiming their first set of the afternoon 25-18.

Nonetheless that set would prove to be their last as Mayo ploughed forward with great resilience in an intense final set winning the fourth 25:21 thus winning the match 3-1.
