GAA Joint Managers Fergal O Donnell & Kevin Mc Stay tonight named their team to face Leitrim in the Connacht Senior Football Championship to be played in Pairc Seán Mac Diarmada Carrick on Shannon on Sunday next at 3-30pm.
This is the 39th Championship clash between the two teams. The first one having been played on February 3rd 1907 in Longford which Roscommon won, it was part of the 1906 championship!
There are a number of changes from the Team that beat New York earlier in the month. Sean Purcell returns from injury and takes up the centre half back position replacing David Keenan who will wear the number 20 shirt.
Donie Shine starts at corner forward and replaces Cian Connolly who made his debut in New York but received a serious jaw injury during the game. Man of the Match in New York Sean Mullooly makes way for David Murray who returns to the Roscommon defence. James Mc Dermott who came on in the New York Game retains his place at midfield.
Sean Mc Dermott who made his debut against London in 2005 is the most experienced player on this team now playing his twelfth year of championship football, closely followed by his club mate Cathal Cregg of Western Gaels who is starting his 11th championship campaign.
