Sligo Rovers has confirmed the appointment of Dave Robertson  as the club’s new manager.

Robertson takes over the managerial role at The Showgrounds on a two-year contract.

He was previously manager at League One club Peterborough United.

The former marine was unveiled yesterday and becomes the club's seventh manager in the past two years.

He said he’s delighted to work at Sligo Rovers – a big club with big expectations.

The new manager said recruiting players is a massive task, and an important onel and says hopefully he can secure the services of the right players to bring success.

Sligo Rovers secretary Brendan Lacken said the club are delighted with Robertson’s appointment, and said they’re impressed with his enthusiasm and knowledge of Irish football.

“After a difficult year for the club in 2015 we are looking forward to uniting behind Dave in what we believe will bring a new era of success to Sligo Rovers”, said Mr Lacken.
