Galway County Board meeting on Monday hopes to decide Anthony Cunningham's future as hurling manager

It’s reported this morning that it would take a two-thirds majority of Galway clubs to oust Anthony Cunningham as the county's hurling manager.

Mediation between players and management has failed, with little or no possibility of the parties agreeing on the next step, after a vote of no confidence from the players last month.

The issue will come before a County Board meeting in Galway next Monday, with the Irish Independent reporting that a two-thirds majority will decide Mr Cunningham's fate.

The controversy is now into its 7th week since a number of players contacted county board officials to express their opposition to his ratification for a 5th year.

Galway are due to play Dublin in the experimental ‘Super 11s’ at Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox on Sunday week, November 22nd.

An attendance of around 25,000 is expected and Galway have confirmed they will play the fixture although who will be in charge remains to be seen.
