Some of Mayo County Board Executive is to meet with the senior footballers tomorrow following the news of a vote of ‘no confidence’ in the management which emerged earlier this week.

News emerged on Monday night that a majority of the senior squad had taken a vote of no confidence in Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly earlier this month.

The news was relayed to the two men on Sunday night last by representatives of the team.

There is a planned meeting of the County Board tonight and a meeting with some of the board officers and player representatives will take place tomorrow evening.

It is understood that Holmes and Connelly do not wish to resign and were in the first year of a three year term. They led the county to a fifth Connacht title in a row earlier this year and Mayo lost to Dublin after a replay in the All-Ireland Semi-Final.
