The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny has welcomed the completion of 2 major sports facilities in Castlebar, which secured substantial capital funding.
The facilities are at Mayo GAA grounds at Elvery’s McHale park involving pitch improvement and flood lighting, and the provision of a new replacement full sized astro pitch at Milebush Park, home of the Mayo Soccer League. Mayo inter county players will use the facilities at Mc Hale park.
Total capital support for both developments is nearly half a million euros
The Taoiseach told Midwest News today that these developments are part of an ongoing programme for better facilities for players of both codes, and for the public at large.
They will enhance the opportunity to extend the playing season and provide first class conditions for players of all grades.
He says he is particularly pleased at the National and Regional skills and coaching which will be held at both venues.
Formal openings of both facilities will be performed by Minister of State Michael Ring, on dates to be decided.
