Michael Meehan steps down from inter-county football for the 'foreseeable future'

The Galway footballers have been left reeling by the news that Michael Meehan has been forced to retire from inter-county football.

 

The talented forward has been forced to accept defeat after a lengthy battle with a chronic ankle injury.

The 29-year-old underwent an operation last November in a bid to repair the problem but it hasn't had the desired effect and he's now informed manager Alan Mulholland that he will have to bow-out of the panel

The Caltra man hasn't ruled-out the possibilty of a return after a lengthy period of rest.
