Kiltimagh navigator John Higgins is back on top of the podium in first place after guiding Cork's Brian O'Mahony to victory on this weekends West Cork Rally.

There was drama on the end of the two day event as Denis Cronin regained the lead from O'Mahony on the penultimate stage but then Denis rolled his Subaru on the last stage to leave Brian and John clear to cruise to victory.

Brian's father Frank tried for many years to win their home event but never succeeded. His son Brian rose to the occasion this weekend with some great stage times that put overnight leader Cronin under real pressure. It is a great result for the Cork/Mayo pairing as they were making their debut in a new Subaru S14 World Rally Car, after winning the Dunlop National Rally Championships in 2012.
