Qatar International Rally

John Higgins from Kiltimagh Co-driving for Majed Al Shamsi ( Abu Dhabi Racing) had a fantastic first day, ending it 7th overall and leading Group N, but rear suspension failure on their Subaru Impreza during the opening stage of day 2 brought an unfortunate end to their rally.

Killian Duffy from Crossmolina Co-Driving for Abdulaziz Alkawaari (Seashore Qatar Rally team) had a fantastic start to the Middle East Rally Championships, finishing the rally in 3rd place overall in their Ford Fiesta RRC.

Time lost with an off the road moment on the first day along with two punctures, had the pair too far behind the leaders to catch them on day 2, but they had a comfortable advantage over 4th place. 

Its no let up for the two Mayo & District Motorclub members as they are both contesting the full Middle East Rally Championship, it’s off to Kuwait in March, Jordan in May, Lebanon in September, Cyprus in October and Dubai in November.

MAYO STAGES 2013 PILOTS SUPER RALLY

In what is a first for a one day national rally in Ireland, Mayo & District Motorsport Club will be running a pilot of Super Rally, at the 2013 Hotel Ballina and Kennedy Motors Mayo Stages Rally, taking place on Sunday March 10th in Ballina.

This will permit crews retiring from the rally prior to the last service the chance to restart the rally from the next service out control, and will no doubt be a major incentive for competitors looking to get maximum value for money for their day’s rallying.

The club will also be running Junior and Historic Classes on the event, while the rally is once again the opening round of the 2013 Sligo Pallets Border Rally Championship. 

The event kicks off on Saturday March 9th with a ceremonial start in Ballina Town center.
