The draw has taken place for the fourth round of the FAI Umbro Youth Cup which will take place on the weekend of February 24.
The inclement weather over the weekend meant that four of the Third Round matches were postponed but the games that did go ahead provided plenty of talking points, including the exit of the cup holders, Wexford Youths. Mick Wallace’s side were beaten 4-3 on penalties by Tramore after a 2-2 draw.
After three regional rounds, the competition moved to an open draw format for the Fourth Round which will feature the last 16 teams in the competition. Because of the outstanding Third Round games still to be played only four of the eight pairings are known at this stage but they promise to be fascinating fixtures as Swords Celtic travel to Letterkenny Rovers, Tullamore Town host Castlebar Celtic, Ballynanty Rovers meet Buttevant and Cahir Park, one of the oldest clubs in the country, host Dundalk who are looking to reach their third FAI Youth Cup Final.
