The draw has been made for the Seventh Round of the FAI Junior Cup with matches scheduled to be played over February 8, 9 and 10.
There are still a number of outstanding games to be played in the Sixth Round but already it is clear that there will be some interesting ties in the Seventh Round. The holders Sheriff YC have yet to play their Sixth Round game against Donegal League side Glenea United but should they overcome that hurdle they will face the winners of Regional United, Tullamore or Carrick United in the last 16. Tullamore’s involvement will depend on the outcome of a hearing tonight at FAI Headquarters in Abbotstown after Ardee Celtic lodged a protest following their recent fourth round tie.
The winners of the 2011 competition, Pike Rovers from Limerick, face a difficult trip to Wexford side North End in the Seven Round while last year’s finalists Kilbarrack United will face St Brendan’s Park, College Corinthians or Cherry Orchard if they win their sixth round tie away to Athenry.
Only two of the eight Seventh Round pairings are known at this stage with St Pat’s CY at home to Limerick’s Carew Park and Cork side Pearse Celtic at home to Dublin club City United.
