Pat Lam would now appear to be favourite in the race to succeed Eric Elwood at Connacht rugby, following Sean Holley’s withdrawal from the race.

An appointment is due within the next 10 days, with the former New Zealand and Samoa international Lam expected to be named as coach.

He was one of a shortlist of 6 coaches who were interviewed for the job.
