Mayo well represented at National Nipper Surf Lifesaving Championships

The National Nipper Surf Lifesaving Championships took place in Curracloe, Co Wexford last Saturday (25th).

Mayo was represented by competitors from Claremorris, Castlebar and Westport who all qualified from teh Connacht/Ulster Surf Lifesaving Championships which took place in Salthill on August 11th.

Harry Burke, Claremorris won the national title in the U11 boys boards competition and was runner up in the open water swim event.

Ned Burke, Claremorris won silver in the beach sprint for U8 boys while Con McNamara, Westport won bronze in the U8 swim. Ned was also a finalist in the flags event as was Con in the beach sprint.

Harry, Ned and Con were joined by John Francis Campbell for the U11 boys relay which was Placed 5th in the final.

Ciara McHugh Murphy, Claremorris won gold in the beach sprint for girls U9 and silver in the flags event.

Eve Burke had a strong swim to finish 3rd in the U12 girls open water swim.

Congratulations to all the Mayo team in what was a very strong showing.
