The Fine Gael party overall is not reacting calmly to the present focus on Enda Kenny’s leadership. That’s the view of Mayo Fine Gael Senator John O’Mahony.

All eyes will be on the Taoiseach’s position when he addresses the Fine Gael Parliamentary party meeting tomorrow evening.

Enda Kenny is expected to set out a timeline for his departure as leader of the party, a position he has held for the past 15 years.

Senator O’Mahony told Midwest News that there’s no doubt the events of the past ten days have brought forward both the prospect of a general election and the departure of the Taoiseach, but insists it would not be possible for Mr Kenny to step down with immediate effect
