31% drop in planning applications in Mayo in first 6 months of this year

A new report shows construction activity is continuing to drop in Co Mayo.
The number of planning applications submitted in Mayo in the first 6 months of this year was 177 – down from 257 in the first half of last year, which is a 31% drop – one of the largest decreases across the country.
The first 6 months of this year also saw a drop in the number of Commencement Notices issued in Mayo from 82 to 77 - a 6% decrease.
The figures are contained in the National Housing Construction Index, which shows a national decreasing trend in construction.
Planning applications are down by 21 per cent across the country - and project commencements are down by 7 per cent.
