Special meeting of Roscommon Co Co tomorrow to discuss budget cut

A special meeting of Roscommon County Council will be held tomorrow, to discuss the Government’s decision to withhold €1.7 million of the council’s budget for this year, as 41% of householders in Co Roscommon have not yet paid the €100 Household Charge.

The Mayor of Roscommon, Councillor Tom Crosby says funding for services such as housing and road maintenance, Libraries, Amenity Parks,  Arts Centres, swimming pools, graveyards and Tidy Towns grants will all have to be reconsidered as the Government has already withhold the first instalment of €436,000 of the €1.7 million budget cut, due to the poor compliance with the Household Charge.
