- Details
A lorry carrying a 160 tonne load for Shell remains stuck at the T-Juntion in Glenamoy this lunchtime.
It’s the fourth day that the vehicle carrying a giant tunnel boring machine is blocking access for traffic in the north Mayo area.
A temporary road has been put in place to assist local access.
A Spokesperson for Mayo County Council told Midwest news this lunchtime that its hoped that a solution to the problem of moving the lorry can be found today.
The authority says every effort is underway to resolve the matter.
Local people in the Glenamoy area have expressed concern over the volume of heavy vehicles now on one of the diversion routes - the Miltown Road, as they believe there is a safety issue-due to the width of the road.
There is an increase presence of garda checkpoints in the area today.
