Handglider Rescued off Achill Yesterday Evening

A handglider was rescued off Achill yesterday evening.
The man, believed to be a visitor to the area from Austria collided with a cliff close to Keel beach.
A member of the public alerted the emergency services and the Achill coast and cliff rescue team immediately went to his assistance. They stabilized the man and then managed to bring him down from the collision area to a safer location where he was winched to safety by the Irish coastguard helicopter from Sligo and was taken to Mayo General Hospital.
He had sustained some injuries in the collision.
