Roscommon TD announces new Air Ambulance Service for the West

Details of a new Air Ambulance Service for the West of Ireland have been announced.
Ireland is the only EU country without an air ambulance service at present, and the Government has now confirmed that the Aer Corps, in association with the HSE and the National Ambulance Service, will operate a helicopter emergency medical service from mid-May.
A helicopter will be based 7 days per week at Custume Barracks in Athlone, which will respond to medical emergencies in Western and Midland counties, transporting critically-ill patients to acute hospitals.
