The death has taken place of Donal Downes, a founding member and former Chairman and President of the Mayo Association in Galway.
Donal, from Barna Road, Galway and a native of Castlebar, passed away on Saturday night following an illness.
He was a Mayo People of the Year award winner in 2010, and has been involved with the Mayo Association in Galway since its inception in 1971.
His remains will repose at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway on Tuesday from 3pm, with removal at 6pm to the Church of St John the Apostle, Knocknacarra.
Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Rahoon cemetery.
