Roscommon Garda sergeants want tighter controls on convicted sex offenders

A call for further security measures against sex offenders is just one of thirty motions which will be debated at the 34th annual conference of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors, which gets underway today in Co Wexford.

Officers in Co Roscommon will call for more information to be provided by, and stricter post-release supervision of, convicted sex offenders.

They will also call for offenders to provide this information at Garda Stations where they live.

Among the other motions up for discussion are the Croke Park Agreement, calls for an increase in the number of armed gardaí and assurances that no more Garda stations will be closed, after 29 closed at the weekend.
