21-year old man drowns in Carrick-on-Shannon

A 21-year old man has died in a drowning accident in Carrick-on-Shannon.
It’s believed the Kurdish man went swimming on Wednesday afternoon, but got into difficulty.
A search was carried out by the local sub-aqua club and civil defence unit.
The man’s body was found yesterday and was removed to Sligo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Gardai are describing it as a tragic accident.
