Sligo-Dublin train services resume normal schedule, following fatality on the line last evening

One person died after being struck by a train in Co Sligo last evening.

The incident happened when the 5pm train from Sligo to Dublin struck and fatally injured a person near Collooney at about 5.30 pm.

Further details of the fatality are not yet available.

Passengers on the train and on a later service from Sligo to Connolly station were taken by bus to Boyle.

However, a spokesperson for Irish Rail told Midwest News that train services as operating as normal this morning on the Sligo-Dublin line.
