Plans to develop a helicopter ambulance service for critically ill patients are now at an advanced stage.
Roscommon/South Leitrim Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan has confirmed that the service and full operational details will be officially launched in the coming weeks.
Deputy Feighan says it is a vital service for the area and patients needing rapid access to acute services in larger hospitals will be transported quickly to receive the appropriate medical care.
