Labour MEP wants pension of former EU Commissioner Padraig Flynn to be cut off

A Labour MEP says former EU Commissioner and Mayo TD Padraig Flynn has disgraced Ireland's good name in Europe.

Nessa Childers' comments come after the Mahon Tribunal found him guilty of accepting corrupt payments. As Padraig Flynn was Ireland's European Commissioner until 1999, Ms Childers says he would have a substantial pension.

She says that she is writing to the European Parliament to request that the commission enforce its Code of Conduct to the full and cut it off.
