Padraig Flynn Looks Set to Be Expelled from Fianna Fail

Former Mayo Deputy and Minister, Padraig Flynn looks set to be expelled from Fianna Fail after the Mahon Tribunal ruled yesterday he corruptly sought and received a 50,000 pounds payment from developer Tom Gilmartin
Fianna Fail is to vote next week on whether to expel him and former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern from the party or not.
It's also begun steps to remove three former councillors.
After a meeting of the party's officer board last night, leader Micheal Martin said Mr Ahern had betrayed the trust placed in him by the country.
However, Bertie Ahern has rejected the tribunal's claim that he gave untrue evidence about his finances.
Dara Calleary is a member of the party’s officer’s board. He told Midwest News this morning that the party’s national executive will meet in Dublin next Friday night to begin the process of expulsion. He argues that the party will survive the grave findings of the Mahon Tribunal because of it’s strong membership of ordinary, honest members who have in the past, and want to in the future serve this country.
