250 jobs secured at MBNA in Carrick-on-Shannon

250 jobs have been secured at the MBNA credit card company in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Part of the business, which serves the Rrish market, is being sold as a going concern.

A fund affiliated with Apollo Global Management has acquired the Irish credit card portfolio of Bank of America Europe Card Services, and will be managed by 250 people based in Carrick-on-Shannon.

It’s understood the section of the Co Leitrim facility which services the U.K. market will continue to be run as a going concern by MBNA for the time being.

Roscommon Labour Senator John Kelly says it’s good news in the short time for 250 staff at the facility, while efforts will continue to find buyers for the other section of the company.
