Boyle Man Remanded in Custody Yesterday after Pleading Guilty to the Manslaughter of a 5 Year Old in a House Fire

33 years old John Lynch of Church View in Boyle appeared in Roscommon Circuit court yesterday in connection with the death of 5 year old Mari Connolly who died in a fire in her home in Boyle last year.
John Lynch pleaded guilty to Mari’s manslaughter along with a charge of arson and a separate charge of assault causing harm.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in court again in June for sentencing.
The night of the house fire the child’s mother was in hospital giving birth to twins. The child’s father managed to save the girl’s two sisters. He sustained serious injuries himself in his attempts to rescue the three girls.
