Galway County Council workers in Ballinasloe on high alert to try and ensure that flooding does not happen again in town centre
Galway County Council workers front line staff and Engineers in Ballinasloe are on high alert to try and ensure that flooding does not happen again in the town centre.
Council workers are on call over the weekend to be prepared to erect the Aqua-dam if the threat of flooding becomes closer.
The town was almost 24 hours away from a flood during heavy rainfall in recent weeks.
Flood levels are been monitored over the weekend and Council workers are on standby if water reach dangerous levels. Ballinasloe area Councillor Michael Connolly welcomes this approach by the Council and is hopeful that this coupled with other measures flooding can be avoided at this time.
