Slippery road conditions are being reported across the region this morning.
Despite temperatures reaching as low as minus 3 in some areas, there are reports of roads not having been gritted in some places.
Castlebar Gardai say there have been a number of minor accidents in their area due to black ice and extreme caution should be exercised.
Gardai in Claremorris say roads are in a treacherous state – especially the Kilbeg Road, the Ballyhaunis Road and the N17 but say caution should be exercised throughout the area.
In Belmullet itself conditions aren’t too bad but as you travel out from the town roads are in a dangerous condition.
Roads around Ballyhaunis and the town itself are very slippery, while the Ballyhaunis to Ballinlough Road is also very dangerous this morning, as is the Ballyhaunis to Tuam Road.
Road conditions in Ballina and Crossmolina are described as slippery, as is the N26 Foxford to Swinford Road, while Gardai in Castlerea say roads are in a treacherous state and extreme caution should be exercised, especially on the Castlerea side of the Ballyhaunis road, which is very dangerous this morning.
