Tesco has confirmed that its shop in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim has re-opened this afternoon following what has been described locally as a 'bomb' scare'.
The store was evacuated shortly after 2pm after what is understood to have been a phone call to the shop located warning staff there may be a device on the premises.
Staff and customers were moved to a safe area in the car park while Gardai investigated the incident.
However the store has since re-opened - it is not believed that the Army Ordnance Unit was called in to investigate.
A statement from Tesco confirms that the store was evacuated as a safety measure and that the store has now returned to business as normal.
