Mayo TD critical of delay in issuing Minor Works Grant to primary schools

The Education Minster Richard Bruton has announced today that the Minor Works Grant will be paid to all primary schools throughout the country next week.

All primary schools wil receive a flat rate Minor Works Grant of 5,500 euro plus 18.50 per mainstream pupil and 74 euro per special needs pupil.

The grant is worth over 11,000 for a 300-pupil school.

Minister Bruton says the grant will be issued to all primary schools next week – including 168 primary schools in Co Mayo.

However, Mayo Fianna Fail TD Lisa Chambers has criticised the Minister for the delay in paying out the Minor Works grant this year.
