Despite reduction in November figures for patients on trolleys for this year, increases at UHG, MUH and SUH
91,147 patients were on trolleys for the first 11 months of the year, representing record levels.
Figures from the INMO show a 95 per cent increase on the first eleven months of 2007.
However, November saw a slight reduction in hospital overcrowding compared with 2016 figures, down 7 per cent.
In this region University Hospital Galway saw a reduction in numbers from November last year – from 594 to 539 – but still remains over of the most overcrowded hospitals in the country each month. At Mayo University Hospital there was an increase in numbers from 213 in 2016 to 259 this year, also an increase at Sligo University Hospital from 107 last year to 198 this year.
