Claremorris-born composer bestowed with Italian Knighthood for his contribution to the Arts

A Claremorris-born composer has been bestowed with an Italian Knighthood, for his contribution to the arts.

Patrick Cassidy, a renowned composer who lives in Los Angeles, was decorated with the “Cavaliere” or Knight in the Order “Stella d’Italia” at a special ceremony at the Italian Embassy in Dublin last week by the Italian Ambassador Giovanni Adorni Braccesi.

Mr Cassidy’s compositional works have been greatly influenced by Italian culture, and he’s currently writing an opera entitled “Dante”.

The Claremorris native said it’s a tremendous honour for him to be recognised for this contribution to the Arts with this Italian Knighthood.
