Anger among locals that the planned upgrade at Glenisland bridge has come to a halt due to objections
The campaign group, formed to seek an urgent upgrade of the R312, the main Castlebar to Belmullet road, are very disappointed that the planned half a million euro upgrade of the road at Glenisland bridge, has come to a halt due to objections submitted to An Bord Pleanala.
Brendan Lavelle is a spokesperson for the R312 Campaign group and he says local people are exasperated by objections to the new bridge design from Inland Fisheries Ireland and An Taisce.
While a half a million euro of government funding is in place to upgrade the road, everything has come to a standstill as the Irish Natura Impact Statement submitted by Mayo county council to An Bord Pleanala for planning for the new bridge at Glenisland has been rejected by An Bord pleanala.
Mr Lavelle told Midwest News he’s frustrated with both An Taisce and Inland Fisheries Ireland inputs into the development.
