Motorists should travel with dipped headlights on during the day, says Mayo Road Safety Officer

Motorists should ensure they’re driving with dipped headlights on during the day at this time of year, to ensure they’re visible to other drivers.

That’s according to Mayo County Council’s Road Safety Officer.

Noel Gibbons says many drivers are over-relying on the use of daytime running lights, which come on automatically when the engine is started – but these lights are only at the front of the car, not at the rear of the vehicle.

The Mayo Road Safety Officer says dashboard lights that come on when the engine is running may be confusing, but drivers should also have dipped headlights on, so their car is visible from front and rear……
