Tuam historian Catherine Corless received a standing ovation, as she was presented with an award today at the NewsBrands Ireland Journalism Awards, held in the Mansion House in Dublin.
She was honoured with a special award for investigative research, following her work on the former Tuam Mother & Baby Home, which revealed that hundreds of babies had been buried at the site.
Her research prompted the launch of a statutory commission of investigation into Mother & Baby Homes.
