Success for Achill Artist
- Details

A Mayo artist, who’s just back from a sell-out exhibition in Australia, will be showing his portraits of the Achill landscape at an art fair in the RDS next week.
Over 15,000 people are expected to attend Art Source - the year’s biggest art show – which takes place from 10-12 November.
Achill-based painter Padraig McCaul held an exhibition in Fremantle, Western Australia recently, where he had a great response – not just from the Irish Diaspora but also from the Australian community.
Padraig, who has now returned to Achill, spent 18 months working in software development in San Francisco where he developed a business plan for becoming an artist.
A business mentor, he advises artists on understanding their audience and finding out how to reach them and also how to overcome business challenges.
Padraig, who also plays with the Mayo Concert Orchestra, says he’s inspired by Australian artist Sidney Nolan and the way he captures the colours, textures and vastness of the Australian outback.
This year’s Art Source features over 130 contemporary artists and 20 Irish and international galleries gathering together to showcase painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, prints and ceramic art.
