An Bord Pleanala Made the Right Call at Glenisalnd - Even if Roadworks are Delayed, According to Unsuccessful Council Candidate
- Details

An Bord Pleanala is correct in rejecting the Irish Natura impact statement submitted by Mayo county council to carry out a half a million euro of road improvement works at Glenisland, along the notorious R312 that links Belmullet to Castlebar.
That’s the view, of a former unsuccessfulcandidate for a council seat in the West Mayo Municipal District, George O’Malley.
Mr O’Malley told Midwest News today that in his experience, the design of the bridge being proposed by Mayo county council at Glenisalnd is not appropriate and he has questioned the consultation that took place on the ground before the impact statement was submitted.
Yesterday here on Midwest News, West Mayo based Fine Gael councillor Gerry Coyle described An Bord pleanala’s decision to reject the Irish Natura report as scandalous, as he said it means that works on improving the winding, narrow road are now stalled.
