Mayo Senator says Cancer Patients across the West deserve better access to the regional centre of excellence for oncology at University Hospital Galway
Cancer patients across the West of Ireland deserve better access to the regional centre of excellence for oncology at University Hospital Galway.
That’s according to Mayo FG Senator Michelle Mulherin, who raised the issue in the Seanad recently.
She claims patients in Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Donegal are experiencing difficulty in accessing oncology services at the Galway hospital, unless they go through the Emergency Department.
Senator Mulherin says that, if the HSE is committed to the provision of a centre of excellence, they have to ensure there are additional beds if cancer patients require them.
