There's a billion Euro Budget on the way this afternoon.

Leaks suggest it'll put more money in people's pockets - with tax breaks for workers and an extra fiver in welfare benefits.

Efforts to tackle the homeless crisis could see developers offered cheap loans and a new housing agency set up to take over NAMA owned lands.

Minister Paschal Donohoe will announce tax and spending measures for Budget 2018 in the Dáil this lunchtime.

It follows talks last night between Fine Gael and its coalition partner, the Independent Alliance as well as discussions with Fianna Fáil as part of the confidence and supply deal.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that in 2018 the Government will balance the books for the first time in ten years, and that the country will be living within its means.

Sources say that the Finance Minister is considering either restoring the bereavement grant or looking at bringing back the telephone allowance along with increases to the fuel allowance.
